The book "Applied Mechanics" has the following
features: The book has been thoroughly revised and the following additions have
been incorporated to make it still more useful for the readers, from
examination point of view: • It has been completely converted into S.I. Units.
• "Selected Questions from recent Examination Papers—With Solutions"
have been added at the end of each chapter. Any suggestions for the improvement
of this book will be thankfully acknowledged and incorporated in the next
edition.
This book covers the syllabi of this subject of almost all
polytechnics in the country in various disciplines, e.g., Civil, Electrical,
Mechanical, Textile, Automobile etc. The book, however, is also suitable for
other competitive examinations including studentship examination conducted by
Institute of Engineers (India). The book is divided into two ports : Part I and
Port II. Part I assimilates 12 chapters and each chapter comprises of the
following : (i) Text, (ii) Worked examples (both in M.KS. and S.I. units),
(iii) Highlights, (is) Objective type questions and (o) Exercises (including theoretical
questions and unsolved problems). Part II contains 'Laboratory Practicals. The
language of the book is direct, simple, lucid and book is profousely
illustrated.
